Life events can, at times, cause a great amount of stress in your life. Many women are faced with demands to juggle a wide range of roles on an everyday basis.
If you feel overburdened and overwhelmed with the pressures of being a mother, wife, employee, and/or caretaker then give me a call! I can assist you with finding balance in your life and getting back to living the way you always wanted.
In today’s society, women often sacrifice their own wants and needs in order to take care of those around them. When this begins to happen, your mental health suffers and you ultimately cannot meet the daily demands of life. You can begin to feel exhausted, stressed, anxious, hopeless, angry, and depressed. Through counseling, I can assist you with developing different tools and techniques that can get you back to living a more fulfilled life. More and more women are entering the workforce, some because they have to, some because they want to. Many are in marriages that they would consider less than ideal. Many are single, some because of divorce, and are tired of the journey that singleness brings. Couples dealing with infertility. The pressure of raising kids. Emotionally abusive relationships that women choose to stay in because they are too afraid to be alone. The betrayal of affairs that either they or their husbands have had. Stay at home moms seeing “the end” of the road for them as they watch their last child leave home and find their way in the world. Constant comparisons to other women for what they have or who they are. Women face many conflicting messages and beliefs about what it means to live a full and satisfying life. We can be very demanding of ourselves in ways that undermine our self-esteem and create conflicts within us and with those we love. Sometimes it helps to have an experienced therapist to sort through what we want and how to achieve these goals.
Women who have low self-esteem, or who tend be overly critical of themselves, are at a disadvantage in the workplace, in school, in social settings, and even in their personal relationships. By focusing on one’s inherent self-worth, rather than constant comparison to others, we can both recognize and heal from feelings of always being second best, and learn to be completely comfortable with who we are.
This kind of self-assurance gives you greater control over both the personal and professional relationships in your life. Mindy Staum, LCSW specialize in working with women from adolescence through adulthood. Many times our clients’ self-esteem and identity issues start at very young ages. If we can deal with some of the issues at early ages, it help will help to make better decisions both professionally and personally later on in life. I would recommend Mindy Staum to anyone experiencing: grief/stress/anxiety/depression. I believe everything happens for a reason and I was referred to her through a friend. As she was such a influential person in my life for the past year. Not sure how I would have made it thru without her. I had a very difficult year of grief and she managed to get me from a point of not knowing if everything I was feeling was normal and how to move forward. She is honest and professional. She let me know grief has no boundaries or timeline. For that I will always be grateful.

Therapy By Mindy was a great choice for me dad a resident of assisted living and I hope we can continue to work together to get him on the track to being the best person he is capable of being. My dad recently had a stroke which has caused memory loss requiring him to be on a secured unit. Mindy has helped him find acceptance of his new limitations by focusing on his capabilities. She has helped him to live life more presently.
